MY STORY

“I’m an artist drawn to the quiet poetry of imperfection”

BIOGRAPHY

Vanessa Schiavone born in 1984 in Belgium with Italian roots. From a young age, her love for art was evident, and she always strived for individuality, feeling like a rebel artist.

Vanessa is a surreal perfectionist whose oil paintings and sculptures express raw, honest emotions, blending beauty with weirdness. Her art is honest, open, and vulnerable—because she believes that true connection begins there. By expressing raw emotion, she invites the viewer to feel both joy and sorrow. As a surrealist artist, she seeks beauty and strength in what is broken, in the imperfect, and in the ongoing confrontation with herself and the world. Her art creates a whimsical, mysterious world that invites storytelling. She graduated from PIKOH High School of Arts in 2003 and briefly studied painting at the University of Arts in Hasselt before leaving to travel and find her artistic identity.

Living in the Philippines, she honed her skills, switched from acrylics to oils, and began her professional journey with group shows, art fairs, and a solo exhibition at Nova Gallery. Influenced by artists like Dali, Frida Kahlo, and Tim Burton, Vanessa’s art evolved, and in 2015, a contemporary art museum in the Philippines purchased one of her works.

Now back in Belgium, Vanessa continues her artistic journey, most recently participating in the Anima Mundi Art Fair in Venice in 2022.
